Singing Breath Explained

If you’re a singer, I’m sure you’ve been told that you should breathe in your belly. But you know your lungs are in your chest. What’s that about?

Also, you’ve probably heard lots of talk about the diaphragm and how you should be using it but . . . do you actually know where it is? Can you feel it?

Check out this replay of my very first Facebook Live, where I talked about singing breath. I explain what and where the diaphragm is, and how breathing in the belly can support the work of the diaphragm and lungs.

So next time your director says, “Breathe in your belly” or “Use your diaphragm!” you’ll be able to nod and smile, cause you know what’s up.
